I'm so pleased you've found your way here.
I'm Sarah Jane Nicholls, a self-taught artist inspired by the beautiful trees and countryside surrounding my home in West Yorkshire. My work is a celebration of trees—their strength, beauty and individuality. Every painting begins with long walks through woodlands, meadows and quiet country lanes, where I find endless inspiration in the changing seasons, the intricate patterns of branches and the sense of peace that being amongst trees brings.
Back in my studio, I use an unusual technique that has become my signature style. Rather than painting directly onto canvas, I paint onto sheets of glass. Working in reverse, I build each painting one tiny dot and brushstroke at a time, starting with the finest details before gradually layering the background behind them.
Once each painting is complete, I work with a wonderful printer here in Yorkshire who captures every detail and vibrant colour to produce museum-quality Giclée prints. They're available in a range of sizes, and if you need a bespoke size to fit an existing frame, I'd be delighted to help.
